Join Our Team: Trainee Laboratory Technician
Location: Barnsley | On-site | £26,208 per annum

Are you ready to kickstart your career in Materials Testing? We are seeking a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join our brand new laboratory in Barnsley, where you’ll play an important role in supporting the delivery of high quality testing services.

This is an exciting opportunity to begin your journey in a hands-on laboratory role, working with soil and ground samples using the latest technology to support our construction sector clients. Full training will be provided, giving you the chance to develop your skills and grow within a supportive and expanding team. All we need from you is a willingness to learn, to be happy getting your hands dirty and to be able to move samples that can weigh in excess of 15kg. In return, we will provide a full time job with excellent rates of pay and overtime (both in the week and over the weekend), and the opportunity to work in an exciting and growing sector along with excellent career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Testing various construction materials e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
  • Completion of test sheets and data entry onto tablets
  • Liaise with senior members of staff on work schedules and testing procedures
  • Work within in-house quality assurance systems
  • Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies
Your Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

  • You will need good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Manual handling and physical activity are daily requirements – samples can weigh in excess of 15kg
  • You must be confident to work in a team environment
  • Full UK Driving Licence
