Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: MONTGOMERYS TRANSPORT LTDWe’re offering a hands‑on opportunity to begin a career in international trade and customs compliance. As part of the Montgomery Transport Group, you’ll learn how goods move across borders, how customs procedures work, and how to ensure shipments are cleared accurately and efficiently. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. This position offers full training and clear career progression within Montgomery Transport Group.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process UK and EU customs declarations accurately using systems such as TSS, GVMS, and PBN.
  • Input and verify customs data, tariff codes, and shipment values in line with HMRC and Irish Revenue requirements.
  • Expedite customs clearances while ensuring full compliance with all regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain and update standing data, digital records, and shipment documentation using freight management and customs software.
  • Liaise with agents, hauliers, customers, and internal departments to ensure clear communication and smooth movement of goods.
  • Support ongoing improvement in customs accuracy and compliance through consistent attention to detail and teamwork.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Basic IT skills, including spreadsheets and data entry.
  • Willingness to learn about customs regulations and trade procedures.
  • Able to organise and to follow structured processes.
  • Clear communication skills and a positive attitude to teamwork.
  • Interest in international trade, freight forwarding, or customs compliance.
  • Any prior administrative or logistics experience (not essential).
