Position Overview

Role: Trainee Health Screener – Berkshire. You will work across multiple clinic locations. You must have a driving licence and access to a car. Salary: £24,523 rising upon completion of your diploma.

Diabetic Eye Screening

Some people with diabetes develop serious complications with their eyes, called diabetic retinopathy. If untreated, it can lead to sight loss. Diabetic eye screening is a test to check for eye problems caused by diabetes. Pictures are taken of the back of the eye to identify changes before sight is affected.

Main Duties
  • Ensure patients are welcomed and comfortable throughout the screening process.
  • Undertake the screening checklist to ensure a safe environment.
  • Basic maintenance of the camera and equipment.
  • Safely administer eye drops and take photographs ensuring correct field of view.
  • Identify patients requiring urgent referral at the time of screening.
  • Maintain sufficient stock of consumables.
