Future role

The Train System Engineer will define and deliver the Auxiliary, Battery Charger and Battery System scope within the Train System architecture, ensuring operability, performance, and compliance with functional and safety requirements. This includes specifying system functions, managing requirements, and supporting verification and validation activities to demonstrate that the solution meets all applicable standards. The Train System Engineer will lead technical studies and integration tasks to achieve performance targets and deliver all associated technical outputs.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Ensure auxiliary system performance and integration within the overall train architecture, including battery and battery charger systems.
  • Develop and manage technical requirements derived from standards, certification, safety, platform, and customer specifications, and allocate these to relevant auxiliary subsystems such as batteries and chargers.
  • Define and validate operational and functional analyses for auxiliary systems, including energy storage and charging functions.
  • Guarantee consistency and compatibility of subsystem specifications impacting auxiliary scope, particularly battery and charger interfaces.
  • Act as the technical interface for auxiliary system topics, supporting the Project Manager and PrWM during revenue service.
  • Make architecture trade-offs between subsystems to achieve optimal train‑level performance, considering energy management and auxiliary power distribution.
  • Resolve technical issues related to auxiliary scope, including battery and charger systems, from investigation through to implementation and closure.
  • Define and execute verification strategies for auxiliary system requirements in collaboration with engineering and validation teams, ensuring robust testing of battery and charging functions.
  • Support train integration and tuning phases, including test specification for auxiliary system functions such as battery performance and charger operation.
  • Ensure adherence to baselines, KPIs, and on‑time delivery of auxiliary deliverables, including battery and charger components.
  • Provide Return on Experience (RoE) to improve standard solutions and enhance quality, cost, and delivery performance for auxiliary systems.
