We’re Hiring: Toll Collector

Location: Plymouth

Pay: £12.60 per hour

Hours: Minimum of 12 hours per week
Grade: Site-Based

No SIA licence required for the Toll Collector role, we will provide all the training required.

Overview

As a Toll Collector at Securitas, you’ll do more than protect what’s important—you’ll empower people to thrive. Your presence will make others feel safe, welcome, and supported. You will be the first point of contact and the coordinator of a steady flow of traffic, cash handling and delivering a stand out experience.

What you’ll be doing
  • Operating lane equipment and managing toll booths smoothly and professionally
  • Classifying vehicles and processing toll payments accurately
  • Recording and handling cash, preparing deposits, and ensuring secure handovers
  • Communicating clearly and courteously with drivers, resolving enquiries or escalating when needed
  • Following safety and operational procedures to keep yourself and others safe
  • Liaising with the Bridge Control Room and following instructions promptly
  • Reporting incidents or equipment faults as necessary
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment in your booth
  • Writing clear reports and interpreting information effectively
  • Upholding high standards of appearance and professionalism at all times
  • Welcoming and assisting staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Conducting regular safety and security patrols.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
  • Supporting emergency protocols, including evacuations and searches.
  • Keeping vigilant, reporting incidents, and preventing disruption.
  • Accurately maintaining records of all activity and handovers.

Qualifications

  • A 5‑year checkable employment history (including study, unemployment, or self‑employment)
  • Minimum of secondary school education
  • Strong IT and communication skills
  • A natural ability to deliver outstanding customer service, with at least 2 years’ experience in a customer‑facing role

Desirable
  • Previous experience in a customer service or public‑facing role
  • Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Experience in the service sector
