Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse with a passion for wound care to be a member of the Tissue Viability team, offering specialist tissue viability advice and support across the North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) units.

Responsibilities
  • As a registered nurse responsible for patients allocated to them and assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including professional and legal accountability.
  • Organise and prioritise own and others’ workload.
  • Act as the trust resource for clinical expertise in tissue viability.
  • Maintain organisational knowledge relating to trust protocols and procedures, particularly in administration of medicines and moving and handling.
  • Ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling residual risks, and adding them to the trust register.
  • Work in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct (2008) and other NMC advisory papers.
  • Critically appraise evidence‑based literature and use this knowledge to inform practice and teaching.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skill through completion of relevant accredited courses, attendance at external courses/conferences, development of an individual development plan, and by developing and maintaining supportive networks.
  • Contribute to clinical governance through participation in clinical risk assessment and management, clinical audit, and research.
  • Maintain expert level of clinical competence and a professional portfolio.
  • Evaluate and develop your own role to improve treatment and support for patients and further develop service, working with colleagues, patients and carers to embed the three NELFT values: kind, respectful, and working together with our communities.
Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

Starting with Us

NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. New starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend several drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe

This post also attracts payment for a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 per annum pro‑rata for part‑time). Sponsorship is not offered for all roles; please check your eligibility under the UKVI points‑based system. When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, the HCA Sup is excluded to ensure fairness and consistency within our Trust.
