Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people through a therapeutic and holistic educational approach? Do you want to help learners aged 11–25 re‑engage with education through creativity, connection, and person‑centred support? Do you hold a degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Youth Work, Mental Health, or a related field?

If yes, KPi Education is recruiting a Therapeutic Education Practitioner (TEP) to work within TCES Create in the Community (CiC) — a unique, trauma‑informed provision for children and young adults who cannot access mainstream or specialist school settings.

About TCES – Create in the Community

TCES is a highly regarded therapeutic education provider supporting neurodiverse pupils with:

  • ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
  • Trauma and attachment needs
  • Communication and behavioural differences
  • Barriers preventing school attendance

Create in the Community offers individualised, therapeutic education delivered in the home, community, or school setting, helping pupils stabilise, rebuild trust, and take steps back towards structured learning.

The Role – Therapeutic Education Practitioner (TEP)

As a TEP, you will work holistically with pupils aged 11–25, offering personalised educational and therapeutic support aligned with their EHCP outcomes and social care plans.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting a lead teacher to deliver tailored lessons and interventions
  • Planning and delivering creative, flexible, community‑based learning (e.g., using libraries, museums, parks, and local resources)
  • Using therapeutic and trauma‑informed approaches to support emotional regulation
  • Conducting home visits, assessments, and transition support
  • Managing risk assessments and always ensuring pupil safety
  • Acting as the appropriate adult when supporting learners outside school settings
  • Encouraging progress in literacy, numeracy, social skills, and self‑esteem
  • Preparing reports for parents, senior leaders, and external professionals
  • Implementing behaviour plans and celebrating achievement through reward structures
  • Supporting pupils through induction and reintegration phases

Person Specification
Essential
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Youth Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Criminology or similar
  • Experience working directly with children/young people (Key Stage 3–5 or 11–25 age range)
  • Understanding of autism, neurodiversity, SEMH, and trauma‑informed practice
  • Strong behaviour management and safeguarding awareness
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work creatively, flexibly, and independently
  • Commitment to reflective practice and personal development
Desirable
  • Experience with ASC and SEMH
  • Knowledge of National Curriculum and therapeutic teaching strategies
  • Physical intervention training
