Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated team player to take up the position of scheduler to cover maternity leave. The post holder will join the centralised scheduling service responsible for booking patients in for their pre-assessment appointments and surgery at the Royal London Hospital. The department books all surgery in the three operating theatre suites at the Royal London Hospital site. You will work closely with speciality managers and clinicians to monitor performance and develop new approaches to meet scheduling challenges at the Royal London Hospital.

The Royal London Hospital is the largest of six hospitals that make up Barts Health, the largest NHS Trust in the UK, supporting a community of over 1.2 million people. It is home to an internationally renowned medical school, one of the UK’s biggest children’s hospitals, and the London Air Ambulance, which adds scheduling challenges due to high trauma and emergency care demand.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job include ensuring provision of a comprehensive and efficient booking and scheduling service for patients, adhering to the Trust’s Access policy and local access targets. The role requires developing efficient and effective systems of work to ensure patients experience good communication, choice and a personal and responsive service. A consistent approach across the trust will be described by standard operating procedures (SOP) including timescales to be adhered to.

Essential

  • Evidence of relevant ongoing personal development in information management or administration

  • 5 GCSEs minimum A-C including English and Maths or equivalent qualification
Experience

  • Two years NHS experience in a role using CRS
  • RTT knowledge and experience or equivalent administrative competence
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the Department and Division
  • Ability to communicate empathetically with patients regarding their treatment and procedures
  • Enthusiastic, approachable and friendly manner

Desirable

  • Capability to communicate with all levels of clinicians to ensure a collaborative working relationship
