Job description

You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert multidisciplinary Theatre Team supported by our experienced Theatre Manager, Natalie. There is no night working, no Sundays, no bank holidays and no on‑call! You can have more time to do the things you love doing.

Role Overview

You will work 37.5 hours over four days and be responsible for ensuring the continual cleanliness of the theatre and equipment. In this role you will develop and execute the correct procedures for ordering, receiving and transferring blood and blood products, as well as blood conservation. Privacy and confidentiality are key throughout the team. You will act as an advocate for the patient in the intra‑operative phase and be responsible for total patient care in the peri‑operative phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness of theatre and equipment.
  • Develop and implement procedures for ordering, receiving and transferring blood products.
  • Advocate for patient privacy and confidentiality during procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care throughout the peri‑operative period.
  • Support teamwork and contribute to a friendly, multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Part 1 registered NMC Nurse with experience as a scrub practitioner in a theatre, or a HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety / Risk management within the operating department.
  • Up‑to‑date with current research and developments in theatre practice.
  • Orthopaedic scrub experience is desirable, but not essential.
