Test Booth Technician – Assembly
Operates as part of the production team responsible for assembly of parts or components to produce Building Construction Product (BCP) machines, following lean manufacturing principles and takt times.
Responsibilities
- Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.
- Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work.
- Operate BCP built products where required.
- Train/coach new Assembly Technicians/Apprentices to standard work instructions.
- Keep the work area clean, tidy, and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).
- Participate in rapid improvement workshops (RIW's) contributing process expertise.
- Adhere to the Organisation's health & safety policy and safe working practices.

- Undertake training and further learning as required.
- Demonstrable elevated level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
- The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.
- The ability to work closely with others is imperative, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed objectives.
- You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.
- Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).
- The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
- Prepared to undertake required training/learning.
- Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience of working within a manufacturing assembly environment.
- Previous experience of working on hydraulic and electrical function checks.
- Good hydraulic, electrical, diagnostic/problem solving skills.
- Relevant NVQ level 2/equivalent or higher.
