An esteemed independent school in Central London is seeking a Part Time Management Accountant for an interim assignment lasting between three and six months. The successful candidate will oversee financial records, produce insightful monthly management accounts, assist with budgeting, and ensure compliance in payroll processes. The role requires a qualified accountant with experience in financial planning and strong communication skills to work closely with non-finance stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience producing management accounts independently.

Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts with clear, insightful commentary.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and reforecasting processes.

Temporary Part Time Management Accountant

Location: Greater London, City of London

Robertson Bell are delighted to be supporting an esteemed independent school in Central London as they seek a Part Time Management Accountant for an interim assignment lasting between three and six months.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and dedicated finance team during a busy and important period for the organisation.

Working closely with the Bursar and wider leadership team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, producing high-quality management information and ensuring sound financial controls are in place. The school is seeking a hands‑on, confident and qualified accountant who can step in and add immediate value.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts with clear, insightful commentary.
  • Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts and supporting financial planning.
  • Assisting and contributing to the annual budgeting and reforecasting processes.
  • Overseeing and supporting the work of the Finance Assistant, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Overseeing payroll processes and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supporting the wider finance function with ad hoc analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Have experience producing management accounts independently.
  • Bring strong financial planning and cash flow experience.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ideally have experience within schools or the not-for-profit sector.
  • Be proactive, reliable and able to work on‑site in Central London for 3 or 4 days per week.
