A local council is seeking a versatile Technician to join the technical team supporting live events at their prominent venues in Ipswich. The role requires technical expertise in lighting, sound, and AV for various performances including high-profile productions and community shows. A-level standard or equivalent experience in a technical field is essential, along with the capability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. The Grade II Listed Regent Theatre is the largest theatre in East Anglia with seating for 1,551 people. It presents an engaging programme of concerts, gigs, West End musicals, comedy, and an annual traditional family pantomime. The historic Corn Exchange is part of Ipswich’s Town Hall and, when used as a theatre, has adaptable seating for 800. The venue presents a wide variety of events, from concerts and conferences to wrestling and darts. We pride ourselves on delivering a great customer experience, whether front of house or backstage, and we work with some of the UK’s biggest promoters and producers. This role is at the forefront of everything we do and is vital to producers, promoters and agents whilst in our venues. We’re looking for a creative, reliable, and versatile Technician to join our technical team supporting live events at the Regent Theatre and Corn Exchange in Ipswich.
You’ll play a key role in delivering a wide range of performances, from large-scale touring musicals and headline acts at the Regent, to community shows, private hires, and corporate events at the Corn Exchange. You’ll also support external events across the wider service area.
Hours of work are 37 per week, including some weekends. The post holder will be required to work a rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
