A local government authority in Bamber Bridge is seeking a Highways Development Control officer to analyze transport assessments and contribute to decision-making on complex developments. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills. This hybrid position includes both site and home-based work. Highways Development Control acts on behalf of the Local Highway Authority (LHA) and provides statutory responses to Planning Applications to the Local Planning Authorities (LPAs). This role sits within the Highway Development Control (Strategic) Team. Highways Development Control (Strategic) handle some of the more complex or sensitive developments across Lancashire, in addition to managing developer contributions (S106), developing Highways and Transport infrastructure strategies, and supporting Local Plan development. A number of the projects are of national importance and subject to a high level of scrutiny.
The work provides impartial professional highways advice in line with national policy, guidance, technical standards, regulations and the legal framework (including the Highways Act 1980), supporting the development process.
