Job description
Overview

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a Technician – Commercial Animals within our Animal Management Centre to join our BCA College team on a Fixed Term, Term-Time Only basis (37 weeks TTO).

This position is a fixed-term, term-time only role at Berkshire College of Agriculture, working 24 hours per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 08:00 – 17:00 with a 1-hour unpaid break.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver practical agricultural activities in collaboration with curriculum and support staff and ensure the welfare of farmed livestock.
  • Work with the Livestock Manager and adhere to high standards of animal welfare in compliance with relevant legislation (Animal Welfare Act 2006 and Welfare of Farmed Animals Regulations 2007).
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas and assist in educational activities with students.
  • Daily management of livestock, operation of machinery and vehicles, and maintaining accurate records as directed by the Livestock Manager.
  • Support students in practical sessions, including supervision and imparting practical skills relevant to the livestock industry.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and adhere to the college’s policies on health and safety, equality, safeguarding, risk management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate potential evening and weekend duties as required.
