Job description
Technical Consultant - Food Development/Technology

The College is seeking applications for a Technical Consultant in Food Development/Technology to be based in our Limavady campus on a fixed-term basis until September 2028.The post holder will be responsible for developing relationships with businesses in the area of Food and identifying their requirements. Working with academic staff and College partners, they will be actively involved in the design, development and delivery of specific interventions within their areas of specialism to meet the outlined requirements. They will also be responsible for income generation and ensuring that the College meets targets within budget and on time.

Responsibilities
  • To assess, through engagement with employers and other research, up-skilling support including specialist training requirements of industry within the area of specialism.
  • To initiate, in collaboration with managers and stakeholders, actions necessary to achieve agreed objectives.
  • To prepare business cases as necessary to ensure appropriate resources are in place to secure and deliver business opportunities, ensuring that other identified industry needs are passed to the relevant Business Support Centre staff.
  • To drive continuous improvement in the delivery of up-skilling support to industry and to promote a culture of innovation in support services through reviewing processes, systems and ways of working to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • To develop and strengthen partnership working with a range of external stakeholders including employers, professional bodies, government departments and statutory agencies to facilitate a strategic and coordinated approach to employer support.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Have at least a Level 6 or equivalent qualification in Food Development, Food Technology, Food Science or a Food related discipline.
  • Have at least 2 years industrial experience working in the area of Food Development, Food Technology or Food Science
  • Have a current driving licence and access to a car(Applicants with a disability who have been prevented from obtaining a driving license due to their disability (as defined by the DDA 1995) are eligible to apply)
  • Have at least 1 years employment experience supporting small businesses with food product development
