Overview

Moor to Sea Community Health and Social Care Team

Are you looking for a new challenge with the opportunity to develop your management and leadership skills?

An exciting opportunity has arisen, and Devon County Council are currently seeking a dynamic and compassionate Team Manager to lead our dedicated team in delivering high-quality services to individuals across the Moor to Sea area.

We support work with adults of working age with a physical and/or learning disability including transition to adulthood, older persons with physical disabilities and/or mental health, including dementia, and carers. The Moor to Sea team comprises committed, self-starting practitioners who champion the rights of the individuals they work with. We are a highly competent team who manage challenge daily and exhibit strengths-based practice. We work collaboratively with health colleagues in our integrated team and are committed to supporting colleagues to progress their professional and career development.

The Role

As a Team Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to our team of experienced social workers, occupational therapists, and social care assessors. You will manage a team of practitioners who undertake varied caseloads including care and support needs assessments, moving and handling assessments, mental capacity assessments, risk management, safeguarding enquiries, and court work. You will supervise practitioners and support them to promote independence, applying an asset-based approach to optimise opportunities for people to reduce and delay their need for formal care and support. You will have experience in safeguarding adults and will lead safeguarding enquiries in accordance with organisational policy and guidance. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our clients receive the support they need to thrive. You will join an excellent team and receive high levels of support from your CSM and Advanced Social Worker, as well as the wider Moor to Sea leadership team, including Community Nursing and Intermediate Care Operational leads, and Clinical Leads. Devon County Council offers a flexible working policy. Candidates will need to be committed to spending a minimum of 50% time office-based to support the team, alongside home working arrangements. You will need to be able to drive and have access to transport.

About You

You must be a registered Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Nurse with experience in Adult Social Care. You will have some leadership experience supervising or managing others. You will be able to demonstrate legal literacy, including knowledge and experience of working to the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act. Experience of court work is an advantage.

What we can offer you
  • We are committed to your continuous professional development, helping you get the most from your career.
  • We offer 26 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays, rising to 31 days after 5 years of service.
  • Recognition of NHS continuous service for contractual annual leave, sick pay entitlement and Maternity/Adoption & Paternity pay entitlement (within DCC Terms & Conditions).
  • Flexible working opportunities including part-time hours, flexitime, compressed hours, and homeworking (subject to role needs; discuss at interview).
  • Opportunity to enter a generous Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • If applicable, relocation support of up to £10,000 may be available (subject to qualifying conditions and exceptional circumstances).
  • Please note: We are not able to consider overseas applications at this time.
