Production Team Leader

Full time, Permanent

Monday to Thursday - 8am - 4:30pm & Friday 8am-1:30pm

£30,000 per annum

Our client is a leading manufacturing business based in Worcester and due to internal promotions, they are seeking a Production Team Leader to join the team.

Responsibilities
People
  • Ensure good communication is in place and that you issue clear instructions to the relevant personnel
  • Manage, coach, mentor and develop team members to encourage and support a high-performance work culture. Contribute to the process of creating skills matrices for the department.
  • Maintain up to date employee Skills Matrices to ensure that all team members are adequately trained; identify areas of weakness and create training plans to close identified skills gaps in the department.
  • Act as a positive role model for change and champion of continuous improvement. Encourage dialogue and debate in the development of new ideas and put forward suggestions to improve existing business processes.
  • Plan and record holiday periods ensuring cover as per departmental skills matrices.
  • Complete all back-to-work interviews when a member of your team has had an unplanned day or continuous days off.
  • Support the Operations management with any HR Issues that may arise during the working day.
Quality
  • Ensure all operators are working to the correct manufacturing standards (i.e. Work Instructions, relevant Quality Procedures, Cutting Lists) and performance and quality targets are understood and worked towards.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the Company's Quality and Business Management System (QMS & BMS).
  • Initiate and implement standard working and best practice processes using, referring to and helping create Foundry Control Documents (FCDs) when required.
  • Ensure all process scrap is reviewed and correctly dispositioned. Attend and report at daily SQCD boards.
  • Attend Process Improvement (PIM) meetings to facilitate and support improvement projects and initiatives across the manufacturing area and feedback any manufacturing issues to the proceeding department.
  • Attend MRB meetings where applicable to influence the determination of material disposition and ensure that effective corrective actions are instigated to prevent recurrence of identified causes of non-conformance.
Delivery

Attend daily SQCD boards and review and report on employee performance data for the prior day and week to date i.e. actual v planned outputs, employee utilisation % and employee efficiency %.

  • Work with the Operations Manager and other Team Leaders to manage and prioritise daily and weekly employee work to customer demand and operational targets, in line with Work To Lists (WTLs) and any expedite requirements.
  • With the Production Scheduling Manager, plan and schedule the weekly tasks at 11.30 every Thursday; review workload and human capacity regularly to ensure daily and weekly targets are being met in the most cost-effective basis.
  • Oversee activities directly relating to supporting additional demand as agreed from time to time.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labour to the appropriate personnel and follow up to ensure appropriate resolution.
