Overview

SEN Teaching Assistant (KS1) - Camden (Near King’s Cross). Mainstream Primary School in Camden (Walking distance from King’s Cross Station).

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Pay Rate: £90- £110+ per day

Vocational Recruitment is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded Primary School in Camden. This role is specifically focused on supporting a pupil in Key Stage 1 with additional learning needs.

The school is exceptionally well-located, just a short walk from King’s Cross and St Pancras International, offering excellent transport links across London.

The Role

You will be working 1:1 or within a small group setting to support a child with SEND. You will be responsible for adapting classroom activities to ensure the pupil can access the curriculum at their own pace, while managing any sensory or behavioral needs.

Candidate Requirements
  • Essential Experience: You must have a proven track record of supporting children with SEND (this can be in a school, specialist provision, or care setting).
  • Autism Specialist: While we welcome experience in any area of SEND, candidates with specific experience supporting Autism (ASD) and an understanding of sensory triggers are highly preferred.
  • Communication Tools: Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or Colourful Semantics is a major advantage.
  • Soft Skills: You must be patient, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing tailored learning plans (EHCP goals).
  • Using visual timetables and sensory breaks to support focus and regulation.
  • Providing regular feedback to the Class Teacher and SENDCo on the pupil's progress.
  • Fostering an inclusive environment where the pupil feels safe and supported.
