Job description

We are working with a special needs school based in Bradford where their pupils always come first.

The pupils are aged 2 to 11 with severe learning difficulties, profound and complex needs and therefore the Teaching Assistant may have to undertake personal care.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound, complex needs in accessing education and achieving their full potential. This includes providing personal care, assisting with communication, and supporting learning difficulties under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pupils with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
  • Support pupils with physical disabilities, medical needs, and sensory impairments
  • Help implement individual education plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Facilitate communication using AAC tools, Makaton or other systems
  • Promote social, emotional, and physical development through structured activities
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
  • Record and report pupil progress and any concerns promptly
