This is a 12 month fixed term, full‑time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.

The successful applicant will ideally be a dedicated and motivated educator who has experience working from K‑12, is interested in teaching across many subject areas and has the ability to adapt to new environments quickly. We value teachers who can flexibly move from classroom to classroom when needed during the school day, possess solid organisational and management skills to deal with complex classroom behaviours.
Additionally, our ideal Teacher would have strong communication skills and be a team player. They would use their interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and their families and have the empathy, patience and understanding to work with children with highly complex needs, whilst understanding the changing engagement norms that today’s students are seeking at school.
Derby DHS is committed to the principles and implementation of the Stronger, Smarter, Positive behaviour in Schools Approach and as such firmly believes in explicitly teaching and supporting students to develop positive behaviours that will ensure they have success at school. Applicants with experience in Positive Behaviour Interventions and Support (PBIS) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Derby District High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary ARI payment of $4 000 per annum, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure. Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
