Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who are committed to excellence and ready to work in a dynamic part of Scotland to deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute, within collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers.

To lead and support engaging Outdoor Learning experiences that enhance students’ academic, personal, and social development, while actively supporting and collaborating on Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiatives across the school.

Fixed Term for a period not exceeding 02 July 2026.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, curriculum-linked Outdoor Learning sessions for students across various subjects.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to design and facilitate PBL that integrate outdoor and experiential learning.
  • Promote student agency, teamwork, and problem-solving through real-world, hands-on learning experiences in natural or community-based settings.
  • Ensure all outdoor activities comply with health, safety, and safeguarding policies.
  • Support the use of local environments and resources to deepen students’ understanding of sustainability, ecology, and community engagement.
  • Contribute to the school’s culture of innovation and experiential learning.

Maintain effective communication with staff, students, and parents regarding Outdoor Learning and PBL initiatives.
