Full-Time English Teacher Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a well-regarded educational institution within the vibrant city of Leeds. The role is a full-time and requires a professional ready to start as soon as possible (ASAP). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5, preparing students for crucial examinations, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the subject.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A thorough understanding of the National Curriculum for English.

  • Exceptional Subject Knowledge: A deep and current understanding of the English Language and Literature curriculum (GCSE and A-Level).
  • Differentiated Instruction: Proven ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with SEND or EAL.
  • Assessment Expertise: Skill in using formative and summative assessment data to inform planning and track student progress accurately.
  • Curriculum Design: The ability to contribute to and develop engaging and challenging schemes of work.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond positively to change.
  • Inspirational Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for English that motivates and engages students.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lesson Planning: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across different ability groups and key stages.
  • Student Progress: Monitor, track, and report on the attainment and progress of all assigned students.
  • Examination Preparation: Prepare students effectively for public examinations (GCSE and A-Level), including running revision sessions.
  • Marking and Feedback: Mark student work accurately, providing constructive, developmental feedback in line with college policy.
  • Resource Creation: Develop and curate high-quality teaching and learning resources.
  • Behaviour Management: Maintain a high standard of student behaviour in the classroom and around the college.
  • Parent Communication: Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and well-being.
  • Departmental Contribution: Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, acting as a tutor/form teacher if required.
  • College Policies: Adhere to all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding and health and safety.
