Job Title

Teacher of English (Full-time, Permanent)

Salary and Start Dates

£31,916 to £51,048 per annum (M1 to UPS3). Start dates: Monday 20 April 2026 or 1 September 2026.

Location

Bridgewater High School, Warrington, Cheshire.

Overview

Bridgewater High School is seeking a dynamic and visionary Teacher of English. The role belongs to the English Faculty, which comprises twelve specialist subject teachers. Working within Years 8-11, students are taught in ability groups. The curriculum aims to produce students who are confident, inspired, and prepared for GCSE.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English across Years 8-11, including mixed ability Year 7 sessions where trial teaching is underway.
  • Use a quarterly assessment framework to inform teaching and support student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to write and continually develop dynamic and engaging lessons.
  • Contribute to the English curriculum and support the use of Promethean boards and other technology in the classroom.
  • Participate in the faculty’s Head of Faculty meetings and coordinate with Key Stage coordinators.
Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold a degree in English or a related field. Experience teaching Years 8-11 and familiarity with the EDUQAS specification is desirable. Strong commitment to student success and a collaborative mindset are essential.
