Radley College invites applications for a Teacher of Computer Science to join the department from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a friendly and collegiate school community.
Mathematics is extremely strong at Radley. Single Maths is always the most popular choice at A level and, currently, Further Maths is also extremely popular. We offer EDEXCEL IGCSE in the Lower School, alongside OCR Additional Maths for the 50 or so most able, who sit IGCSE a year early. At A level we offer EDEXCEL. The successful applicant will have a significant share of Sixth Form work. The department consistently produces some of the best results in the College.
A candidate will first and foremost be an excellent teacher. We welcome applications from recent graduates, early-career teachers, experienced teachers, and professionals moving from industry. Mentoring is available for those at the beginning of their teaching career. Enthusiasm for the subject is naturally important and a candidate should be a confident practical programmer and enjoy showing the beauty and intrigue of computation through their teaching. Extra-curricular offerings are valued such as clubs, competitions and creative projects. As a boarding school, we are looking for someone who is prepared to throw themselves wholeheartedly into the life of the College. Radley is a community and those who get most out of it – whether as boys or as teachers – are those who are prepared to embrace the breadth of the education that Radley offers. The opportunity exists to be part of the growth of the department and contribute greatly to the establishment of the new course. The capacity to offer a second subject would be desirable but not essential.
This position comes with accommodation which is free of rent, council tax and water rates and Radley College has its own very competitive salary scale.
The deadline for applications is 12 noon Thursday 29 January, but we reserve the right to consider applications as they arrive. Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 4 February.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the vacancy please email the Head of Department, Alastair Vaan (aav.vaan@radley.org.uk).
