Overview

Teacher of Animal Care

Contract – Permanent – Part-time

Working Hours – 32hrs per week, 08.30 - 4.30 (Monday to Friday)

Salary – £25,584 - £27,540 per annum subject to qualifications – DET Qualified teachers are currently in receipt of a temporary market supplement of £1,700 per annum, payable as an additional premium above the contractual base salary.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking someone who is passionate about helping young people to learn and achieve, and who can help them be ready to take their next steps. We need someone who is compassionate in their approach, and who can work with young people who may have had multiple barriers to education in the past. We want someone who is flexible and can be part of a small, local team who come together in all circumstances to put our students first.

Role purpose

The purpose of the role is to oversee the day-to-day delivery of the vocational Animal Care Qualification from level 1 to 2. As well as support the delivery of the wider curriculum to students on employability skills, CV writing, Interview skills, job applications etc.

Responsibilities
  • To plan and deliver Animal Care sessions to a small group of students according to their individual learning needs and requirements.
  • To embed communication, word and number into Animal Care sessions with students.
  • To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
  • The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality practical skills, teaching and training to students within the agreed Awarding Body standards.
  • To be responsible for delivering teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach.
Requirements
  • English and Maths at GCSE grace C/4 or equivalent Level 2
  • All candidates will require an enhanced DBS check
  • A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential, Nacro is proud to support those new to teaching.
