Year 7 SEND Teacher – Special School – Havering (January Start)

Axcis is seeking a dedicated Year 7 SEND Teacher for a January start at a well‑established special school in Havering. The school supports pupils aged 2–19 with complex needs, including SLD, PMLD, autism, communication and sensory/physical difficulties. With a Good Ofsted rating across all areas, the school is known for its calm, structured environment and holistic, therapy‑led practice.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a small Year 7 class, delivering a highly adapted, individualised curriculum linked to EHCP outcomes.
  • Plan engaging, multi‑sensory lessons that promote communication, independence, emotional development and functional learning.
  • Use communication supports such as visuals, PECS and Makaton (desirable).
  • Support pupils’ sensory regulation through structured tasks, sensory spaces and therapeutic input.
  • Collaborate with therapists (SALT, OT, Physio), support staff and families to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.
  • Encourage social communication, emotional wellbeing and practical life skills as part of each pupil’s developmental pathway.
