Role Purpose
The Talent Development Manager will lead initiatives that enhance the growth, engagement, and career progression of lawyers and business professionals. This role focuses on building a high-performance culture through strategic talent development programs, leadership pipelines, and succession planning, ensuring the firm attracts, retains, and develops top legal talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Talent Development Strategy
- Design and implement a talent development framework aligned with the firm’s strategic goals.
- Partner with leadership to identify future skills and create career pathways for associates, partners, and business services teams.
- Career Progression & Succession Planning
- Develop structured career development programs for lawyers at all levels.
- Support succession planning for critical roles and leadership positions.
- Leadership & High-Potential Programs
- Create and manage leadership development initiatives for emerging and senior leaders.
- Identify and nurture high-potential talent through tailored programs and mentoring.
- Performance & Capability Building
- Collaborate with HR and practice leaders to link performance management with development opportunities.
- Introduce competency frameworks and capability assessments to guide growth.
- Learning Ecosystem
- Oversee learning platforms and resources that support self-directed development.
- Integrate coaching, mentoring, and experiential learning into talent programs.
- Diversity & Inclusion
- Embed inclusive practices in all development initiatives to ensure equitable access to opportunities.
- Measurement & Impact
- Track talent development metrics such as retention, promotion rates, and leadership readiness.
- Report on ROI and continuously refine programs based on data and feedback.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in talent development within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of career progression models and leadership development.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Ability to design innovative, future-focused development solutions.
- CIPD or equivalent qualification preferred.
