THE ROLE

Our award-winning Mission Systems Team deliver some of the world’s most advanced aviation IT systems from our office in Lincoln. As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are delighted to offer a Systems Engineering opportunity to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products.

The Mission Systems Team has recently transitioned to an Agile working methodology to develop our electronic mapping and mission support products and requires additional experienced Systems Engineers.

As a Systems Engineer (IT Configuration and Build), you will be directly supporting the product development cycle as part of a multi-disciplined Scrum team, ensuring Systems Engineering aspects of development, including hardware configuration testing, are performed to the highest standards, along with the configuration and build of project specific test and production systems to support the Chief Engineer develop and produce release documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties of the role will include:

• Contributing directly to systems engineering aspects of Company designed electronic mapping, mission support and electronic flight bag products specifically including configuration and build of test and delivery systems.
• Defining system configurations and build scripts.
• Testing of systems to ensure they have been configured and built correctly.
• Maintaining and further evolving configuration and build processes.
• Reviewing the work of others to ensure it is of suitable quality.
• Undertaking related project activities.

The role is expected to grow, with experience. Further development of the role is possible.

This role is based in the Company Offices in Lincoln; remote working is available where tasking allows - applicants should assume that they may be required to work in the office full-time most weeks.

THE PERSON

We are looking for a proactive, flexible, confident individual with excellent attention to detail and the discipline to produce consistently high-quality output, whilst committing to the principles of developing high quality systems to specific standards.

As a member of a small highly skilled team, the responsibilities of the role will necessarily be broad and varied and you should be prepared to assume a comprehensive range of responsibilities, be capable of working with minimum supervision, be confident enough to contribute your own suggestions and ideas and have a ‘can do’ attitude as you will be required to take a flexible, constructive and timely approach to meeting the diverse needs of the Company’s business.

You will also have an inquisitive/analytical mind, be able to research issues independently and suggest pragmatic, business-focused solutions. We are also looking for candidates to demonstrate a desire to develop professionally within our growing business.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Evidence of the following would be considered essential:

• A methodical approach to work.
• Expert user of modern office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
• An understanding of modern operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Android).
• An understanding of the principles of configuration control.
• Familiarity with Windows Deployment Services and maintaining configuration scripts.
• A demonstrable understanding of Mobile Device Management principles and MDM tools.

Evidence of any of the following would be considered desirable:

• Familiarity with Systems and Software Engineering Lifecycles, interface and integration.
• Working knowledge of Requirements, Architecture and Verification.
• Experience in using Configuration Management tools.
• Knowledge of the principles of the development of systems for safety related systems (RTCA/DO-178C, DO-200B, DO-254, IEC61508, etc.).

Evidence of any of the following would be considered highly desirable:

• Expert in the use of Windows Deployment Services.
• Expert in Mobile Device Management.
• Expert in deployment to Android.
• Experience of DevOps.

Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
