Job Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This post will be primarily based at Bolton Churchill Unit, BL4 0JR.

The SACT and outpatient team at Bolton Churchill Unit require a scheduler and receptionist to work as part of our existing team to schedule patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer treatments. The post holder will be expected to work as part of a very busy team, spending time in outpatient clinics and covering reception.

The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work within a team while also managing an independent workload, and considerable computer use with the trust’s systems. Training will be provided for those unfamiliar with these systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Book patients for SACT treatment and outpatient appointments using the iQemo scheduling system.
  • Communicate with patients and relatives face‑to‑face and by phone, ensuring appointments are scheduled promptly and accurately.
  • Support the clinical team with administrative duties, including patient data entry and record keeping.
  • Meet appointment deadlines and target metrics while maintaining professional courtesy at all times.
  • Cover reception duties and work a variety of shifts between 07:30 am and 06:00 pm, including Bank Holidays and Saturdays on rotation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Administrative or clerical experience with a customer‑facing component.
  • Experience working within the National Health Service (desirable).
Essential Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Attention to detail and IT literacy (Microsoft Office proficiency desirable).
  • Knowledge of patient appointment booking and data recording systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
