A leading cloud service provider in Greater London is looking for a Systems Engineer to manage and optimize its cloud computing infrastructure. In this role, you will leverage your experience in site reliability engineering and scripting languages such as Python and Java to enhance operational efficiencies. On a typical day engineers might dive deep into understanding the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way and consult with the top engineers at Amazon. As a Systems Engineer at Amazon you will utilize your Linux skills to troubleshoot, innovate fixes and workarounds, keep software up to date and provide data and metrics that help manage the capacity and efficiency of our services. You will draw on your networking knowledge to identify and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. You understand system design best practices and the importance of implementing systems and services that are secure, scalable, reliable, resilient, efficient, and performant.
You communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results. You are a self‑starter, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change. You are customer‑obsessed, always looking to understand customer pain points and find resolutions quickly and completely.
Experience in site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration; experience working with Linux; experience in systems engineering; experience in any of the following: Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell or equivalent; knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as HTTP and DNS; experience designing and developing scripts to automate operational burdens and reviewing scripting changes to ensure they meet the standards for maintainability, scalability and security; experience working in 24/7 production environment; experience with service‑oriented architecture and web services.
