Trafford Council has declared a Climate Emergency and is committed to addressing the Climate Crisis through delivery of its Carbon Neutral Action Plan. Work has begun on decarbonising council buildings and vehicles and actions are being driven across the Borough, including cycle infrastructure, electric vehicle charge points, low carbon heat networks, and climate action plans with businesses and schools to protect and enhance green spaces and biodiversity. You will be part of a team developing and implementing a range of projects such as Bee Net Zero Trafford Park, the North Trafford Heat Zone, and improving green spaces such as Longford Park and allotments. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and implement policies, strategies and projects aimed at becoming more climate resilient and achieving a Net Zero Carbon emitting borough by 2038.
The Sustainability & Climate Change Service sits within the Growth and Regulatory Services Directorate; based at the recently rebuilt Town Hall in Stretford, and you will report to the Principal Climate Change and Sustainability Officer. A flexible hours and working policy is in place although some unsocial hours working may be required on occasions.
