Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London\'s largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.

About the Team and the Role

The Skills and Employment team plays a key role in achieving Lambeth’s ambition that all residents can access high-quality employment support, whatever their circumstances. As economic inactivity rises due to ill health and the cost of living continues to affect financial resilience, our work is more vital than ever. Employment is central to tackling inequality, improving health and wellbeing, and strengthening community resilience. Our services directly contribute to Lambeth 2030: Our Borough, Our Future — helping to create a fairer, safer, and more inclusive borough.

We are now recruiting a Supported Employment Team Leader to help deliver Lambeth’s Connect to Work programme—part of a national initiative funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. This five-year programme provides specialist, high-quality employment support to residents with learning disabilities, autism, long-term health conditions, and other complex needs. Delivery will be underpinned by the Supported Employment Quality Assurance Framework (SEQF), with a strong emphasis on person-centred planning, community-based support, and sustainable job outcomes.

As Team Leader, you will manage a team of four Employment Specialists, ensuring delivery is aligned to SEQF principles and embedded within a culture of continuous quality improvement. You’ll be responsible for staff supervision, caseload oversight, performance management, and developing inclusive employer relationships. The role involves working closely with internal teams and partners across adult social care, health, and the voluntary sector to ensure support is coordinated, effective, and targeted at those residents facing the most significant barriers to employment.

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience in delivering or managing Supported Employment services aligned to the SEQF model, with a commitment to high-quality, person-centred support

  • Strong understanding of the barriers to work faced by people with learning disabilities, autism, and other long-term conditions, and how to overcome them through tailored interventions

  • Experience of managing a frontline team, including caseload management, reflective supervision, and performance development

  • Confidence in engaging employers to create inclusive opportunities and the ability to support your team in job carving and retention support

  • A data-driven approach to service improvement, compliance, and fidelity monitoring

  • A collaborative leadership style that reflects Lambeth’s values of Equity, Kindness, Accountability, and Ambition

We especially encourage applications from people from the Black, Asian and Multiethnic communities and while the role is open to all applicants, Lambeth will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from underrepresented groups where there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit.
