Due to a genuine occupational requirement, you will ideally hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence for this particular role.

Highfields is located in Chasetown, Staffordshire. We offer residential support for eight people who are autistic or have a learning disability. Highfields is on the edge of a suburban area, close to a local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We want to provide person‑centred support to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we care for, enabling them to have a healthy, happy and independent life, within a safe and welcoming home.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high‑quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertake routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day‑to‑day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well‑being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • To be considered for this role, we require you to have the right to work in the UK.
