In March 2026, the Council will be introducing a weekly food collection service and is now looking to strengthen its supervisory team.

The Role

We are now looking to recruit a new Supervisor to join our existing team and to ensure that our high level of performance is maintained. A key task is to actively manage the in-cab vehicle data, tracking and management system to control and deploy resources in the most efficient way. You should have a good understanding of the health and safety implications of waste management and be able to impart this knowledge on others through training.

You must be able to remain calm under pressure, possess good communication skills and have a strong customer focus. Knowledge of the East Staffordshire area would be an advantage.

Key Requirements

The successful candidates will have previous supervisory experience, with a background in waste collection or street cleansing. We are looking for candidates who hold a LGV C Class licence or are working towards this qualification.

Skills and Experience

You must be IT literate as the role involves the proactive use of an in-cab data management system to efficiently control resources.

A 37 hour working week, Monday to Friday with regularised hours working directly for the Council.

There is a requirement to work overtime as required on Public and Bank Holidays and, on occasion, at weekends, as directed by the Operations and Fleet Manager for which you will be paid at the appropriate rate. This will enable the Council to provide the most efficient and effective service, including over the Easter and Christmas periods.
