Job Title- Superintendent RadiographerLocation- Tunbridge WellsHours- 36hrs a week. Mainly Monday- FridayAt InHealth we see more than 5 million patients each year and diagnostic imaging is one of the busiest services we provide. Our purpose-built diagnostic centres offer increased imaging capacity for NHS trusts, and convenient, fast access to services for patients. Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent Radiographer to join our MRI team in Tunbridge Wells. This is a full-time role doing a mixture of clinical work and managementAs an InHealth Superintendent Radiographer you will be responsible for providing first point of call management and clinical leadership, operating in accordance with local guidelines and company policies to deliver a service that is aligned to contractual and governance requirements. In addition to your supervisory duties, you will work clinically as a radiographer and complete MRI procedures, coaching other members of staff where necessary. You will also maintain and continually develop an efficient imaging service, optimising patient care.

Main duties of the job

Supervising a team of radiographers undertaking modality specific imaging procedures
Undertaking MRI scans in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (MHRA Guidance 2007, IR(ME)R 2000, Code of Clinical Practice)
Conducting competency assessments at regular intervals, ensuring any development needs are identified and followed up
Being actively involved in the recruitment, appointment and induction of new clinical staff
Arranging rotas for clinical staff where required
Ensuring good communication is maintained with the team to deliver a smooth-running service
Dealing with day to day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions where required to resolve the queries within a reasonable timeframe
Taking ownership of governance activities i.e. audits, personal development, and team meetings with the support of your colleagues.

We are looking for someone who has:
  • A BSc in diagnostic radiography or equivalent
  • A valid professional membership (HCPC registration)
  • The ability to supervise a team of radiographers when necessary
  • Confidence when coaching and developing team members via training techniques
  • The ability to motivate and lead, with a desire to exceed expectations
  • An outstanding understanding of radiography physics and different scanning techniques and sequences
  • Competency at performing routine and complex examinations with and without contrast medium
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to organise effectively and prioritise workloads
  • Understanding of the implications of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles
  • Excellent health and safety awareness when utilising imaging equipment
  • A calm approach in challenging situations and works well under pressure
  • A professional and cooperative attitude towards patients, customers and colleagues.

  • Of undertaking basic and complex MRI procedures
  • Working with imaging equipment in a hospital or mobile environment
  • Being involved in the recruitment and selection process
  • In health and safety policies and procedures when it comes to imaging equipment and radiology
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team.
