Substance Misuse Non - Medical Prescriber

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Non - Medical Prescriber to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP YOI Doncaster, a category C & D Prison located in Doncaster, capacity of 1400 men. Central location with good transport links, parking, on-site gym, and career development opportunities via PPG pathway.

Job Summary

Hours: 37.5 hours – Monday to Friday, 8‑4 pm, no weekends (some bank holidays). Salary: up to £49,175 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties
  • Undertake clinical nursing practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues, ensuring clinical excellence
  • Prescribe medication within their sphere of competence
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after
  • Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans
  • Carry out a clinical review with the patient and update care plans accordingly

Qualifications required
  • Registered professional with current active registration (NMC, GPHC, HCPC)
  • BSc or equivalent qualification
  • Non‑medical prescribing qualification
  • RCGP1 and RCGP2 in Management of Drug Misuse – ideally
  • Understanding of policy developments related to primary care services including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
  • Understanding of evidence‑based practice
