Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you a motivated, organised, and resilient individual looking to make a real difference in an educational environment? We are seeking a Study Supervisor to join a dedicated team in Horsham.

In this pivotal role, you will ensure that student learning continues seamlessly when a teacher is absent. You won't just be "minding the class"—you will be facilitating progress, managing a positive classroom environment, and supporting the Inclusion Department to ensure every student, regardless of their background or ability, has the chance to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Classroom Supervision & Delivery

  • Deliver lesson resources and activities effectively to ensure students remain on task and make progress.
  • Communicate clear instructions and "Independent Learning" tasks set by absent teachers.
  • Use a variety of resources (books, equipment, and digital tools) to promote active learning.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, organisation, and health and safety.

2. Inclusion & Student Support

  • Provide supervision in Internal Exclusion, upholding policy while encouraging a productive work ethic.
  • Work closely with the Inclusion Team to support students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
  • Act as a mentor for KS4 students who are potential underachievers, helping them reach their academic goals.

3. Behaviour & Communication

  • Manage after‑school sanctions and maintain accurate records of student achievement and behaviour via BROMCOM.
  • Act as a point of contact for parents/carers regarding student successes or areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate a uniform approach to work delivery using the internal network (M Drive).

4. Team & School Support

  • Accompany and supervise students on educational off‑site visits, ensuring all safety requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the Study Supervisor team and assist in the induction of new staff.
  • Support the Inclusion team with classroom tasks when cover requirements are light.
What We Are Looking For
  • Communication: The ability to communicate clearly and assertively with students and staff.
  • Resilience: A calm and professional approach to behaviour management and problem‑solving.
  • Organisation: Proficient ICT skills (experience with BROMCOM or similar MIS is a plus) and excellent record‑keeping abilities.
  • Commitment: A passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of young people.
