About The Role

Our new ARU Peterborough site is open to students and we are looking to recruit a Student Support Adviser to a permanent position. As a member of the team you will provide help, advice and guidance to students across a broad range of library and student support topics via multiple channels. The role involves supporting students with their pastoral needs and signposting and triaging queries to Student Services teams including money advice, counselling and wellbeing, disability and dyslexia support, study skills plus, academic advice, employability and ARU Temps.

The ability to put people at ease who may be in distress is a must as is the ability to explain complex regulations and procedures in an accessible manner.

Other duties include: advising students on the use of library resources, study spaces, IT equipment and software as well as contributing to a range of administrative tasks which are key to library and student support services. You will have excellent customer service skills, including being calm under pressure, be IT literate (with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office) and demonstrate attention to detail.

With two A Levels or a vocational qualification at level 3 or equivalent, you will have significant experience of working in a customer service environment, working successfully as part of a team and experience of administrative work using complex information systems. Experience of working in an office or library environment in higher or further education is desirable.

This role is a full time post. Evening work (potentially until 8pm Monday - Thursday) will also be required on a rota basis so there may be some flexibility with hours worked.
