Company Overview

Founded in 2002, the company operates from a site in Weston-super-Mare. Recognised as a small-sized enterprise with a turnover of £6.5 million and over 40 employees, our client is an established structural steelwork solutions organisation that includes:

  • Design and drafting
  • Fabrication
  • Erection and site installation

Our client maintains rigorous quality and compliance standards, such as BS EN 1090-1, BS EN ISO 3834-2, and ISO 9001.

Primarily servicing the South West of England, our client is now looking for a Structural Project Manager, familiar with TEKLA, to work on major refurbishments and new-build projects around Bristol.

Job Purpose

To lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple complex projects in structural steelwork and architectural metalwork across various sectors, ensuring quality, cost, safety, and schedule objectives are met or exceeded.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning & Execution
    • Lead projects from tender to completion and client handover
    • Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource plans with estimators
    • Ensure accurate detailing, fabrication, and installation per drawings and specifications
  2. Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Serve as main contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
    • Attend progress meetings and site visits; provide updates and reports
    • Maintain strong relationships for repeat business
  3. Technical Oversight
    • Collaborate with design, engineering, fabrication, and erection teams
    • Review and approve drawings, specifications, and quality documentation
    • Ensure compliance with codes, CE marking, health & safety, and standards
  4. Commercial Management
    • Monitor project costs, variations, and procurement
    • Negotiate subcontracts and oversee supplier performance
    • Prepare valuations, change orders, and final accounts

Skills & Experience

  • 6-10 years project management experience in steelwork or metalwork
  • Track record of delivering projects over £1M
  • Understanding of fabrication, installation, and industry codes
  • Proficient in project management and drawing review software (e.g., MS Project, Tekla, AutoCAD)
  • Leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving license
