Structural Engineer

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Structural Technical Engineer to join a market‑leading globalbuilding envelope manufacturer. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, offering exposure to innovative, sustainable, and technically complex projects. You'll play a key role in supporting customers and internal stakeholders with structural design solutions for bespoke building systems, ensuring designs are accurate, compliant, and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce and substantiate structural designs in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Interpret architects' and engineers' drawings to develop practical, economical design solutions.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, specifiers, and internal teams via phone, email, or video.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and bills of materials for project proposals.
  • Support digital design development and help improve design tools and software processes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  • Deliver technical presentations on product performance, system design, and project‑specific solutions.
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and building techniques.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a structural engineering or related role.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, 3D modelling, or cold‑formed section design.
  • Background in industrial building or structural steel design.
