Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our Street Cleansing Services team. As a Street Cleansing Operative, you will help maintain clean and safe public spaces across the Borough of Rugby by performing a range of cleansing duties in accordance with Council specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Cleanse designated areas of the Borough as directed by the Street Cleansing Contract Officer.
  • Carry out tasks such as litter picking, fly-tip removal, emptying and maintaining litter bins, street sweeping, and collection of bulky or clinical waste.
  • Ensure all cleansing is performed to the standards set out in Council service specifications.
  • Communicate politely and professionally with members of the public.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and the Council's Safety Policies.
  • Attend required training, including those held outside normal working hours or at external venues.
  • Comply with site safety protocols at landfill, waste transfer, and recycling facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a high standard of service.
  • Perform daily PPE inspections and report any issues to the line manager.
  • Complete vehicle check sheets and report defects using digital systems (e.g. Web Aspex).
Qualifications
  • A reliable, conscientious worker with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Willingness to attend training and adapt to operational needs.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence (7.5 tonne),
