Job description
Store Leader

Salary: £29,215

With a rich heritage and a new name, TGJones is the fresh face of a much-loved and trusted British brand. Our roots lie in WHSmith, where we’ve proudly supported the high street retail estate for generations. Now, under the ownership of specialist retail investors, Modella Capital, we’re entering an exciting new chapter with bold ambitions to become ‘Your Hub of the High Street’.

Responsibilities

As a Store Leader you’ll lead and inspire your team to provide exceptional customer service, meet business objectives and create a working environment that helps our colleagues to develop and achieve. We want you, our customers, and our colleagues to feel proud to be part of the story we’re creating together. From first days at school to first birthdays and beyond, you’ll play a key role in helping our customers find everything they need to create meaningful moments and lasting memories. Key responsibilities will include;

  • Inspiring and engaging your team to achieve outstanding standards and performance, aligned with the objectives of the Trading Plan
  • Reviewing the trading plan with your Cluster Manager and using the scorecard to set and agree key actions and priorities that will lead to success for your store - reporting back to your team on store, cluster and area performance
  • Fostering a strong sense of pride across the store by ensuring colleague and customer areas are well-maintained, while upholding high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence
  • Creating a culture of learning, support and recognition - spotting opportunities for development of personal skills, product knowledge and self-awareness to support our colleagues in an environment where everyone feels valued and welcome
Qualifications

We’re looking for driven leaders who are focused on building a meaningful career - not just securing their next role. You’ll have a deep commitment to delivering exceptional in-store experiences, setting high operational and service standards, and inspiring your team to achieve collective success. As a Store Leader, your influence will shape both team performance and the overall customer journey. Skills needed for this role will include;

  • Retail leadership experience (preferably in a fast-paced environment) with working knowledge of KPI’s such as ATV and TPC
  • Proven experience leading by example - actively engaging with your team on the shop floor and driving performance through hands-on support
  • A flexible and adaptable mindset, with the willingness to provide support across other stores in the area as required
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and effectively across all levels of the business
  • Experience of supporting colleague training and development, and motivating teams adopting an ‘engage’ rather than ‘tell’ approach
