Job Description

McCloskey by OPIS has an opening in its research team for a Principal Research Analyst, Global Steel News and Price Reporting. Reporting to the Research and Analysis Executive Director, you will take a leadership role within McCloskey's growing steel practice, with a focus on Green Steel. You will be a key part of our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group and the McCloskey research team.

This is a senior position within the McCloskey News and Price Reporting team. It involves managing junior staff and working alongside our industry-leading steel and steel raw materials research team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting weekly steel prices, including prices and premiums for Green Steel, with an emphasis on the European market.
  • Launching new steel price assessments, defining price specifications, and gathering market feedback.
  • Generating news content on the steel sector, focusing on Green Steel, for daily and weekly news deliverables.
  • Conducting periodic research on industry issues such as regulatory developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipelines, and ESG.
  • Maintaining client and industry relationships, leveraging existing connections.
  • Sharing and sourcing market intelligence.
  • Engaging in business development, supporting OPIS' sales efforts.
  • Representing McCloskey and OPIS in the steel industry through client engagement, presentations, media interviews, and content marketing.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries or markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, impact, and influence skills.
  • Strong presentation and public discussion skills, including moderating panels.
  • Quantitative skills are advantageous.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Leadership skills to manage others while maintaining personal productivity.
  • Bachelor's degree.
