What You'll Accomplish

Core Financial Stewardship (50% of your role): You'll serve as a key financial guardian for our organization, maintaining pristine general ledger accounts through monthly reconciliations, preparing comprehensive grant reports that secure critical funding streams, and supporting audit processes that ensure compliance and transparency. Your work with federal, state, and foundation funding sources will directly enable program success and mission achievement.

Essential Accounting Operations (40% of your role): You'll manage the full spectrum of accounting functions, from processing accounts payable with rigorous internal controls to overseeing cash management operations. Your responsibilities include handling electronic and check payments, preparing detailed financial reports for multiple departments, processing employee expense reimbursements, and executing journal entries and reconciliations that maintain our financial integrity.

Strategic Innovation (10% of your role): You'll contribute to organizational excellence by evaluating new accounting systems, documenting policies and procedures that enhance efficiency, providing cross-training support to build team resilience, and identifying process improvements that strengthen our financial operations.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Associate's degree with relevant experience considered)
  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in healthcare, nonprofit, or government sectors
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with fund accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to identify trends and resolve discrepancies
  • Excellent communication abilities to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Technical Excellence: Deep understanding of GAAP, grant compliance, and nonprofit accounting standards
