Sports Coach/Cover Supervisor

Smile Education are delighted to be supporting this friendly school in the recruitment of a Sports Coach. The role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis. The successful applicant will join this busy school based in Solihull. The school is located near Solihull, within close proximity to Moseley and Birmingham. The role is ideal for graduates from a sports-related degree or coaches with significant experience working with children or young adults.

What to expect from applicants

We would like applicants to be either a recent graduate from a sport-based route of study (graduating from 2024 onwards) or an experienced coach with a significant work history supporting children or young adults. The successful applicant will be supporting pupils from Year 7 through to GCSE level, working alongside experienced PE Teachers and delivering pre-planned lesson content. This role is suitable for someone considering teacher training options, offering first-hand classroom-based experience, while also representing a change of pace for experienced coaches looking for a new challenge.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils from Year 7 through to GCSE level in PE, alongside experienced teachers.

Qualifications and experience
  • A recent graduate (from 2024 onwards) from a sports-related route of study, or an experienced sports coach with a background in supporting children or young adults.
  • Confident in managing practical sports activities while working with large groups of pupils
  • A genuine interest in working within a school setting and supporting pupils within PE
Training, safeguarding and compliance

Applicants will receive training through the Smile Education Graduate Academy, including safeguarding training and access to multiple online training courses. We are committed to safeguarding children. Each applicant will be expected to undertake compliance checks including Prohibited list, Barred list, DBS and Qualifications.

Logistics

The successful applicant will be joining the team from September 2025, with an expected salary range of £100-£130 per day, depending on experience level. The school is located near Solihull, with proximity to Moseley and Birmingham. You may be based at more than one school within the Trust, so the ability to drive is helpful.
