About the role

We are recruiting for a L7 SpLD Tutor to work at our Bexley Campus to organise exam access arrangements for learners with EHCPs and declared learning needs. This role will also involve supporting learners with dyslexia either on a one to one basis or as part of a small group, liaising with tutors at all levels to support the learners in class and writing learning plans for declared learners based on the information that has been gathered.

Main Purpose of the Job
  • To work in the Specialist Support team and provide specialist tuition, support and guidance in the area of SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulty / Dyslexia).
  • To assess learning support needs, and provide specialist advice, guidance and tuition to students with SpLD, including dyslexia, and to advise and support curriculum staff who teach students with SpLD.
  • To establish professional working relationships and liaise closely with all staff and students to promote and maintain an effective quality support service.
  • To provide a person-centred approach, improving the success rates of learners on mainstream provision who have, for example, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, ASD or Asperger’s Syndrome.
  • Act as one of the Lead Professional in the coordination and implementation of the EHCP review process; maintaining contact with parents / carers, Local Authorities, education providers and other agencies as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
  • To assist / support managers with the identification and allocation of resources to support for learners with dyslexia / SpLD.
  • Screen identified students for dyslexia using a variety of screening / assessment tools.
  • Assess and support needs and provide specialist tuition for learners with dyslexia and SpLD, drawing up learning support plans and reviews in liaison with curriculum staff.
  • To compile Specialist Tutor reports when required.
