We have a high quality, comprehensive service to children, young people and families. We work wherever children and young people are based including: Children’s Centres, Early Years settings, nurseries, mainstream primary and secondary schools, colleges, special schools, child development service and a range of specialist provisions. All Speech and Language Therapy posts are locality team based and strong multi-disciplinary links exist across agencies.

The service has developed the largest and most comprehensive traded services offer in the UK, and as a result attracts a high percentage of direct school funding. School commissions are on an annual basis and as a result these staff contracts are also. We are proud to be commissioned by health, education and schools and colleges in Hackney and out of borough as well as Youth Justice and the Virtual School for Looked after Children. We have a strong relationship with schools and alternative providers and are growing in traded services.

Although this post is short term in this advert the funding is anticipated to continue, and as a large service, other opportunities frequently arise, including internal promotions when available.

The Children's Integrated Speech and Language Therapy Service for Hackney & the City is a unique collaboration between local health & education agencies. By pooling resources, the service is able to provide high quality, comprehensive service to children/young people & families within Hackney & The City and other London boroughs.

We look to have have sessions available within our Mainstream Schools Service (primary) and Early Years service.

Mainstream school settings are in Hackney and we also work in West London alongside our partner West London Zone/All Child.

The post holder will assess/diagnose speech, language and communication needs in children and young people (CYP). They will plan and implement programmes of support and intervention for CYP with speech, language, and communication needs, including CYP with complex needs. This includes the supervision of speech and language therapy assistants and collaborative work with other agencies.

The post holder will attend relevant training to work towards more specialist skills & knowledge and participate in CPD and other developmental activities.
