Qualifications

Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. The position is based in York, which is easily accessible via public transport. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract starting in July.

About the role:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work in a 26-bed Specialist Neurorehabilitation centre with patients who have acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury. The centre is set on a 3.5-acre plot, surrounded by mature woodlands and well-maintained grounds.

Your main responsibilities as a Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Devise evidence-based therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for patients
  • Develop skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
  • Participate in service delivery audits and quality improvement initiatives

What we are looking for in a Speech and Language Therapist:

  • HCPC registration
  • Experience working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on the RCSLT framework
  • Ability to motivate patients over long periods
