A leading NHS Trust in the UK is looking for dynamic Specialty Doctors to undertake adult critical care transfers. The role involves managing referrals, stabilising critically ill patients, and achieving autonomous practice under supervision. Candidates should have experience in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia. Benefits include career development support and a commitment to staff wellbeing. Join us in delivering excellent care to our community.
We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic Specialty Doctors and trainees to undertake adult critical care transfers, working alongside Duty Consultants and Transfer Practitioners to deliver the day‑to‑day service on the Retrieve network.
Following an orientation and induction programme in the first weeks, Transfer Doctors will be directly supervised by Retrieve Duty Consultants. You will receive training and experience in transfer medicine with the aim of achieving autonomous practice status (under remote consultant supervision) during your time with the service.
The post is suitable for a doctor with experience in Intensive Care Medicine and/or Anaesthesia who possesses the skill set to assess, resuscitate and stabilise critically unwell adult patients.
Retrieve provides a single point of contact for all adult critical care transfer referrals 24 hours a day. All calls are managed by a Duty Consultant who triages, coordinates and can provide remote decision‑support if required. Over the 24 hour period, Retrieve operates a dedicated transfer team from each of its operational bases – one in Launceston, Cornwall (Peninsula sub‑region – Devon/Cornwall) and one in Bristol (Severn sub‑region – Gloucestershire to Somerset).
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is monitored; if you have used AI in your application, you must declare so.
