Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to assist the existing team to provide a comprehensive Ear, Nose and Throat service to the Trust. This will involve in-patient and out-patient work and a share on the Monday to Friday on-call rota.

The appointee will contribute to the on-call rota as first on-call as there is no junior tier at QEH. The on-call rota includes 1 day/evening per week and 1 in 4 Fridays (day only until 5.00pm) with prospective cover. The morning following on call is free. There is the possibility that in future the timetable will include 1 in 5 Friday on-all cover for Friday elective cases with a Saturday discharge ward round ward. This would be on an if required basis. The unit closes to emergencies at 5pm on Fridays until 9am on Mondays with the weekend emergency service provided from the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. No weekend on-call emergency work will therefore be required.

The ENT Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital presently works as a fully independent unit during the week. At the weekend the unit is closed to admissions and patients are treated in Norwich.

Responsibilities
  • To support the effective delivery of a comprehensive general ENT service.
  • To be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, and appraisal and risk management.
  • To work with other departments and outside agencies as required in contributing to the objectives of the ENT service.

There's never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We're working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we've ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At the QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across West and North Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as 'Good', and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome. We love working here and think you will too.

£61,542 to £99,216 a year per annum pro rata (dependant on experience)
